Growing Up In SF...

Today SF (Student Fellowship) had the 1st committee meeting with the new batch of committee (2010/2011).

Not much of an intro huh? Well, how do I start with…I’ve been in SF since 2005, and I’m still serving. Many things had changed since then. Most importantly I’ve seen myself change, a whole lot.

I started out as passionate, hyper, enthusiastic, idea-ful and not to mention impulsive, non-stop opinion-giver. I’m still passionate, just expressed in a different way. Let’s just say I’ve grown up.

So instead of being part of the “core”, I decided to lay low and observe/oversee the comm meet today. Frankly, I’m very impressed with this batch of committee and I learn a lot from them. Take note I said learn not learned/learnt, I’m still learning (pardon if my English is a little bad here). But you get the idea right? ;) *winks~

Some might have known that I’m a bit disappointed when the new comm was revealed, but I don’t regret, and I can see that God’s hands are upon the new young leaders, I thank God and give Him glory for that.

6th year in SF? Don’t you think you’re more superior and experienced already? Yes I do think I am, but at the same time, I felt that I had to learn more as I grow older. “Time to shut up and learn from the younger ones” doesn’t seem such an appealing idea to most (especially leaders who are reading this) but realizing that you’re not as smart as you think but you’ve only grew a few years older, in my opinion, that’s what it means to grow up.

I’m learning more than I did, and I’m more willing to learn than I was younger. I love my juniors, hanging out with them, talking about ideas, one of the best bunch of people to be with.

To my juniors, be encouraged, be willing to learn, be faithful to God, and SF’s trademark leaders phrase: “You are all leaders.” I love you all and God bless.

Celina has grown up (a little) XD

7th LYPG '10 Report

Time: 1400-1530
Date: 10th July
Place: FGC main sanctuary
Lead by: James
Number of people who showed up: 13
What we did: Pray and wait on God, share what we received

Unlike the usual LYPG, some of us had a short worship before a discussion on a Northern Zone Unity Youth Camp earlier before LYPG started. It was nonetheless a good time of prayer and hearing from God.
Here’s some of what we received:

* Before impacting others, we need to identify God’s purpose in our life
* The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak; we need to fast and pray rather rely on our own strength
* “Persevere”
* We need to impact others especially Christians close to us (family etc.) and not just get on with ourselves for God has great things planned for them too.
* Vision: Climbing a sand mountain with the help of a rope from the top. There, Jesus says “come”. But all of a sudden everything just falls and tumbles down; we need to have firm, childlike faith that God can do great things and the impossible can happen.
* Josh 5v13-14 “I’m not on your side or their side, I’m on God’s side”; its not about us or others, it’s about God.
* “Have courage to see it”
* Vision: A rainbow colored cube, a tree growing on it with roots wrapping around the whole cube. The tree grows and bear apples, the apples drop to the ground and more trees grow; the cube represents God’s Word and Faith, we as trees need to be rooted in God’s Word and have faith in Him.

Be blessed~ :)

6th LYPG '10 Report

Date: 26th June
Place: FGC main sanctuary
Lead by: Phoebe
Number of people: 7
What we did: worship and prayer, waiting on God, sharing
Rating: Eye opening & Unexpected

For the first time in LYPG ’10, the theme is “out there in the world” as I call it. Phoebe brought a small globe and told us to take a look at it, and wait on God to see/hear where and what we are to pray for. Though it was just a few of us, God was no doubt there and impressing upon our hearts.

Here’s what we received:

Zel~ Chad: A country in central Africa, next to Sudan. Might not be doing well economically because of its location, which is not near to the sea. Refugees from Sudan might have taken shelter in that country.
Aaron~ China: Pray for the religion there. Less Christians are found, most of the population is atheist and Buddhist.
Eshlyn~ Portugal: Catholic country. Persecuted or chained/bonded Christians. Pray for Christians to stand up against approval of gay marriages. Word for that country, Eph 6v19-20.
Jed~ Nepal: Christians being persecuted are giving up hope. Some are even put in prison for baptizing.
Phoeb~ South Africa: Many nations gathered there in the World Cup season. Pray that all nations will come together to worship God ultimately.
JX~ South America: Pray for so-called “Christians” to be real Christians and that the people will turn away from their wickedness.

Conclusive points from Ibu S.H: We should not only be concerned of the things going on around us, but also about what God is concerned in the whole world out there.

Just looking at the small globe, it’s amazing to know how God put everything in the world under His control. Thank God I’m not God!

5th LYPG '10 Report

Time: 1400-1530
Date: 17th April
Place: FGC main sanctuary
Number of people who showed up: 14
What we did: worship and prayer, group prayer and waiting on God, sharing

This time we actually split into groups to wait, pray, and share what we received from God personally.

This is what Missy reported from her group:
*We need to be rooted in the Word of God.
If not, our faith will be shaken easily.
We cannot evangelize (mentor, work in ministry etc.)

*Being complacent in our comfort zones.
Crime and chaos that are happening so rampantly are not affecting us because of the “It’s happening to everybody what. It’s no surprise anymore.” and “It’s not happening to me.” mindsets.
SIN OF OMISSION IS JUST AS BAD AS SIN OF COMMISSION.

*Do we really want God to strike something bad at us before we can be aware of what’s going on in Malaysia?
Do we really want God to do something drastic to us in order to get our attention and concern?
We need to question ourselves whether we care enough about His people, whether we have a burden to love His people.
If we care enough, we wouldn’t be just sitting back as audiences only.

This is what my group received:
*Parable of the Rich Man.
The rich man didn’t do anything wrong, but he went to hell because of what he didn’t do what he should and could – sin of omission.
IT TAKES ONLY ONE PERSON TO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.

*We sometimes feel unimportant like if you’re the only Christian in a class.
We just go with the flow and not do what we should (like praying) because we are not shaken.
We are not rising up until we are shaken, and THEN only we rise up – shouldn’t be that way.

*空(empty) – prayer/ spiritual atmosphere is empty
命(command) – We have to obey God’s laws and commands, and He commands us to pray
挣(throw) – God or you yourself have to throw yourself out of your comfort zone
崩(shaken) – Warning, if we don’t start to pray or rise up we’ll get shaken; it’s a process we have to go through if we do want to continue praying and doing God’s work, could be an experience that will shake us, maybe scare us

*Mindset – wrong mindset of the people
Bad things are happening in the world because of wrong mindset (eg. Abusing young children, even babies)
Churches are having wrong mindsets of unity (eg. They welcome pre-believers but do not welcome believers from other churches)
People don’t see the importance of interceding for their own nation (eg. Old and young generations alike take prayer lightly)

Be convicted and encouraged!

Motivate__Motivating__Motivated!

The title is just a "fast forward", for real it takes slightly longer time for me to be motivated to do something.

Being a typical sanguine I'm easily excited, but to be constantly motivated to do something is not easy. I lack focus and determination sometimes.

Recently I've been continuously watching movies like "Rattatouille" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" for atleast 4 days. Inspiring, they're my favourite movies :)

Now for those who have watched "Cloudy", you might have noticed that Flint STARES at a picture of himself that he drew when he was young to motivated himself.

Seriously? I mean who does that to get motivated? Me! Does that work? More than you could imagine. Here's the story:

One day in class while having nothing much to do, little pre-teen Celina took out a small paper from an exercise book and started drawing. She drew her parents being 20 years younger (talk about staying youthful), her bros growing into successful people, and herself becoming a scientist. (Yup, I'm kinda a nerd..I think)

The drawing was titled "My Dreams/Wishes". Written on it was also "UPSR-7As PMR-8As".

Sadly she couldn't acheive her UPSR goal (though she worked her head off) and thought that hardwork didn't really pay off to be successful. PMR results wasn't her best because she didn't intend to work for it. Then one day...

She uncovered that little piece of drawing.

"Man...did I really drew this?"

She felt like she had let lots of people down, including God, but mostly, herself.

That's it Celina! Don't forget Colossians 3v17:

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
