Reminiscing NSCFL Camp ‘07

I think it’s exactly 3 years since then, I’ve taken out the “goodie bag” a while ago and look through the stuff. Some pictures from NSCFL (National School Christian Fellowship Leaders) Camp at "Seminari Theologi Malaysia" in Seremban:

The Teams with their cheer!

Devotion:

Picnic lunch! XD

more pictures~

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARISSA!

Talk about rebel, and promises:

MUAHAHA~ Games time! XD

Great time of worship and coming before God~

My favorite part of the camp, "Selah" day, praying for CFs around the country (featuring: feet washers):

Here’s part of the letter from the Scripture Union team which reflects about their thoughts on the event.I also almost forgot about the note of promise to God that we wrote during camp. Have you made any promises to God before that you had forgotten or had just put aside?I heard the main character of a series called “F.B. Eye” quoted something like this:
“Sometimes, we need to take a step back to see how far we have gone.”
I think it’s really true. Take a break when you’re tired, look back and reflect, and see how far God has brought you.

Be blessed~

Cikgu & Murid

A little treat for my fellow Malaysians ^^
(For those non-Malay speaking, the title means "Teacher & Student".)
Sorry to say that, only those who understands Malay are able to enjoy the post (unless you can get some one to translate it for you) *winks~ enjoy! XD

Sebaik sahaja cikgu melangkah ke dalam kelas........

Murid : Selamat pagi, cikgu.

Cikgu : (Menengking) Mengapa selamat pagi sahaja? Petang dan malam awak doakan saya tak selamat?

Murid : Selamat pagi, petang dan malam cikgu!

Cikgu : Panjang sangat! Tak pernah dibuat oleh orang! Kata selamat sejahtera! Senang dan penuh bermakna. Lagipun ucapan ini meliputi semua masa dan keadaan.

Murid : Selamat sejahtera cikgu!

Cikgu : Sama-sama, duduk! Dengar sini baik-baik. Hari ini cikgu nak uji kamu semua tentang perkataan berlawan. Bila cikgu sebutkan perkataannya, kamu semua mesti menjawab dengan cepat, lawan bagi perkataan-perkataan itu, faham?

Murid : Faham, cikgu!

Cikgu : Saya tak mahu ada apa-apa gangguan.

Murid : (senyap)

Cikgu : Pandai!

Murid : Bodoh!

Cikgu : Tinggi!

Murid : Rendah!

Cikgu : Jauh!

Murid : Dekat!

Cikgu : Keadilan!

Murid : UMNO!

Cikgu : Salah!

Murid : Betul!

Cikgu : Bodoh!

Murid : Pandai!

Cikgu : Bukan!

Murid : Ya!

Cikgu : Oh Tuhan!

Murid : Oh Hamba!

Cikgu : Dengar ini!

Murid : Dengar itu!

Cikgu : Diam!

Murid : Bising!

Cikgu : Itu bukan pertanyaan, bodoh!

Murid : Ini ialah jawapan, pandai!

Cikgu : Mati aku!

Murid : Hidup kami!

Cikgu : Rotan baru tau!

Murid : Akar lama tak tau!

Cikgu : Malas aku ajar kamu!

Murid : Rajin kami belajar cikgu!

Cikgu : Kamu gila!

Murid : Kami siuman!

Cikgu : Cukup! Cukup!

Murid : Kurang! Kurang!

Cikgu : Sudah! Sudah!

Murid : Belum! Belum!

Cikgu : Mengapa kamu semua bodoh sangat?

Murid : Sebab saya seorang pandai!

Cikgu : Oh! Melawan!

Murid : Oh! Mengalah!

Cikgu : Kurang ajar!

Murid : Cukup ajar!

Cikgu : Habis aku!

Murid : Kekal kami!

Cikgu : O.K. Pelajaran sudah habis!

Murid : K.O. Pelajaran belum bermula!

Cikgu : Sudah, bodoh!

Murid : Belum, pandai!

Cikgu : Berdiri!

Knees Are Made For..?

Have you heard of guys looking out for girls with nice legs? You know with the smooth skin, fair calves, rounded knees... Okay stop visualizing.
My point is, people like to look good, especially girls. I'm not saying the "vain" or "lala" or "24/7 titivating" kind of look good, but in a general way.

Well, maybe working on having perfect legs are pretty vain. But with the existence of shorts, "mini"s and even "micro"s, girls are getting more conscious of their legs.
I think as long as my legs are strong, healthy and without handicap, I'm cool with it. Well that was what I used to think for the past 7/8 years.

To be honest, I used to mind if my legs don't look good. A classmate this year asked me:
"Celina, you were naughty when you were young right?"
"Err...you could say so. How did you know?"
"Because of your scar."

He's referring to a scar on my arm (don't have any funny ideas okay). I had the scar because of a bike accident (was racing with a dude on a bike to large for my size) then had quite bad wounds on legs and my right arm had to be "x-ray"ed...
Anyway, a comment from teacher challenged my consciousness about my appearance.
"Girl with a nice face, but limbs full of scars."

Shoot~ that hurt.

One day this year, I was on my knees praying. Halfway I opened my eyes and looked at my knees. Images flashed through my mind, church members praying on their knees, fellow comrades on their knees, FWP mates on their knees... a lady in China persecuted by kneeling on bricks while saying a mocking prayer while guarded by Chinese offices...

(By the way, this news of persecution was nearly 6-7 years ago, you can find it more at Open Doors, an organization focusing on the persecuted Christians)

Then it dawned on me that knees are meant for kneeling, to pray, to intercede. Legs do meant to be going around, doing good works and stuff, but often times the power of the kneeling knees are underestimated.

Wow! Since that day my self esteem boosted like super high into the heavens! Direct esteem from God. Sweet! ^^

So, hope you're encouraged. Be blessed :)

Whatever…

Doesn’t sound pleasant right? Yeah if used in a certain way, it doesn’t sound nice. Huh? You don’t get me? Ok let’s take a look at a few examples shall we? Here’s one:

“I think this option is pretty good, don’t you think?”
“Whatever…”

Alright hold that thought; now let’s look at another example:

“Do you think he’ll agree with me?”
“Don’t worry, whatever your idea is I’m sure it’ll be fine.”

Okay I don’t know if you get me already or you’re still blurring.

The 1st example is more like slang-talk, indicating that we dismiss something. The other example is kind of what you’ll find in the dictionary, meaning “anything that” or “no matter what”.

So now you see the difference?

The word “whatever” is now also used widely when ignoring someone, dismissing a topic, or rejecting an idea. I didn’t used to mind when I say that until I heard some people say that to me and I felt uncomfortable, or when someone else felt uncomfortable when I say that.

What’s wrong with it anyway?

Years ago I read or heard somewhere that a survey shows that the most irritating, annoying, offensive word is “whatever”. After pondering and experiencing some…unpleasant experiences, I think it’s true that people find it offensive when spoken in such a way it conveys a message that says “I don’t care what you’re talking about”.

After realizing that, I’ve made it an effort not to use the word simply, till now I’m still keeping that in mind but I had let it slip occasionally when my emotions were flying (well…more like storming).

I sympathize with those who had tried to contribute their thoughts and ideas but had been just put aside, dismissed, or even rejected by a mere “whatever”. Most of the time the person saying it didn’t purposely want to “reject” you, it’s just because this slang had become such a norm, and people ignore the effects it leaves on the poor victim…

I leave this to you to think about it. Some of you readers might feel like shouting a loud “whatever” in my face after reading this post, but I don’t mind.

WHATEVER your reaction may be, God loves you^^

Future…Career…Courses…Choices…?

I’m sure you’ve been thinking about these stuff too, especially when you’re at least a teen. Recently I’ve been reading up “Phases’ [The Ambitions Issue]” and if you’ve been aware of what’s the latest topic in my blog, I’ve been finding out some more in-depth stuff on my personality through career / personality tests etc.

By the way “Phases” is a Christian Malaysian youth magazine published by Scripture Union, its real cool! But unfortunately, according to Runa(SU worker), “Phases” is already “phased out”, so to speak. There are no one left to run and continue to produce it (how sad~). The issues I have are from the years 2000-2002, and they’re RARE to find now!

OK anyway, where was I?

Right, so I was reading around, thinking, looking back, and wondering…What’s God’s will for my life?

I mean, so far He had guided me real closely, getting me to stay back for Form6, letting me play roles in SF and Impactors which are pretty important, giving me the opportunity to go for FWP (which I may not have the chance if I’m studying somewhere else) and revealing to me many more things about my life. Awesome. There’s just so much to tell if in detail.

Look, God had been so gracious to you, leading you every step of the way, what more can you ask? Are you impatient or something?

Impatient, perhaps. But it’s something more, it’s like the clash of what are my passion / dreams / what I’m called to be, and realities of the world of success / riches / expectations.

I’ve been told, or rather prophesied that I’ll be helping people (in what way, I won’t go into detail here), and even write books. Plus, my dream in my early teens was to become an artistic Christian leader.

Now, I’m studying science, biology in fact, plus my math and chemistry were like… ugh~ So, I’m like, “God what am I doing here in Form6?” And what do you know, ask an obvious question, get an obvious answer, God’s like saying, “Because it’s My will for your life, and you chose to follow it.” Great. Now why do I have to stay back again?...

Talk about math and chemistry, I’ve read and heard that comparing ourselves with others is no longer a fair judgment of our abilities because we usually end up comparing our weakness with someone else’s strength.

But it’s hard to just ignore that nagging voice of “you’re not as good as so and so…” in your head! Come on, the dude’s got 90 for math and the other dude’s got 99 for chemistry!

Shut up. When I got my math paper I was thrilled! Not because I scored really well, but it’s just because I improved a bit from 48% in the previous exam, to 56%. While some are still pretty happy for me, but others like parents needed some convincing (so that I won’t look so weak that I needed tuition classes)

Look! No math tuition! Yet I’ve improved and I’m above average in my class! (I think, well in terms of math subject) Why can’t the world rejoice with me?

Pathetic~

Regardless of my achievements, or even if others have a big “PATHETIC” label waiting to clip unto me, I believe that God has an awesome blueprint with my name on it and my job is to do what it takes, with what I have, and live out that particular blueprint. The best part is, no one else can do that. *smile~ ^^

What about the reality versus dream part?

Oh yeah about that, it all comes down to one thing – choice. Which way after Form6 should I choose? I haven’t had a clue, seriously, even after considering my interests, strengths and weaknesses.

Pfft~ so much for reading this long post and not finding any conclusion from Celina huh?

Well there’s a conclusion, not from me, but it’s a truth spoken from the Mastermind of Life Himself:
“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
[Jeremiah 29v11]

Now that conclusion, I like! *ching smile~ XD Be blessed!

More Accurate Personality Results!

Thanks to Silas (Hi5 jail mate! XD), I've been able to read up more accurate...I mean SUPER accurate explanation on my ESFJ personality! Well, except for the "very feminine" part, I still find it pretty unbelievable, for me that is.

There's like super lot of info and explanation. 1st there's the main page, then at the bottom there is 3 picture-links: career, relationship and personal growth.

Take note, while you'll certainly be impressed and feel good with the explanation, since they're quite highly accurate, you might need to prepare your hearts (especially ESFJs like me) when reading some ugly stuff about your personality. Anyway, here's the link to my ESFJ explanation: http://www.personalitypage.com/ESFJ.html
You may change the link, or find out another way to find out about your personality. Enjoy :)

Keep in mind, the way you are can't be confined to what others think/say/write/type/post about you. You are UNIQUE, personally designed by God, and you can be the best you could and all that God calls you to be.

SMILE! You're special~ :)

My Personality is...

This is the second time I took this test, the results are pretty cool, and guess what, I’m an ESFJ, or a “Seller”, which I think really is my “person”-ality ^^ *teehee~ don’t know what I’m talking about? Check out the info below (summarized & simplified or revised, for your benefit ;p):
ESFJ

The social status of successful people can be quite attractive to ESFJ's and many marry rich people and encourage them to get more stuff. Other ESFJ's seem to fit in with the poor and the needy. In either case their dependability, dedication, and commitment to providing for the needs of others is, at times, overlooked/or taken for granted/or unnoticed/or treated cheap. (aww…) This can lead to the ESFJ feeling unappreciated and neglected. (Double aww…) They can (I say “may”) build up uncomfortable feelings, which they then feel bad about, (because of our conscience, or rather the Holy Spirit) and then they find themselves suffering from emotional denial.

(readers could just ignore whats the rest of the info here on ESFJs)

If stress continues, the ESFJ will begin to feel dejected and despondent. A sense of gloom seems to be attached to their memories and the ESFJ fosters feelings of self-blame and guilt about certain past experiences. Always conscious of a sense of indebtedness, the ESFJ feels generally remorseful and may regret imagined woes. If stress becomes overwhelming, ESFJ's will complain of their burdens, suspect dreadful things about their health, become critical of others who have "betrayed" them, and become generally melancholic. The ESFJ feels forsaken after all they have put up with and done for others. Their complaints immobilize so they are unable to nurture others or fulfill their demanding obligations.

I know, the last part is kinda depressing, but don't pity me, I'm a happy and blessed child of God ;) *winks~ by the way, here's a diagram to show my personality ratingYosh said this is the best or like the most relevant/accurate personality test, even better than the DISC and the “choleric melancholic sanguine phlegmatic” test. Well, I guess I had to agree. Go try it! Just click here^^

God made everyone special ^^
